Liberty Net: April 16, 2011

by Kevin Strom, WB4AIO

A HUGE RAIN AND WIND storm enveloped eastern North America on Saturday, sent static into the ionosphere, and knocked down antennas — including N2IRJ’s low-noise Beverage. But back-ups were brought into play within an hour and the longest-running discussion net on amateur radio — the Liberty Net — brought its hallmark intellectual excitement to the airwaves in excellent form.

Here’s a small sampling of some of the subjects brought up this time:

• In Chicago’s schools, students are now forbidden to bring lunches from home. Unless they have medical exemptions, students must buy government-provided lunches — brown bags from home will be confiscated. (18 minutes)

• Why is the regime in Washington spending $20 million on a Pakistani version of Sesame Street? Since the US version of the show was a pioneer in brainwashing children to accept multiracialism, the reason for the funding is doubtlessly to push some kind of propaganda. (1 hour 16 minutes)

• A Black councilwoman in Detroit recently claimed that “Detroit invented the middle class” by originating shorter work weeks and high wages, and that therefore the US taxpayer “owes” the Detroit underclass at least $1 billion. It wasn’t the underclass that invented these underpinnings of the middle class, though: They were created by Henry Ford and other members of America’s founding stock. (1 hour 18 minutes)

• There is no more chance of the current Congress passing a balanced budget than there would be if they were replaced by a Congress of baboons — and maybe they should be. (2 hours 4 minutes)

• With inflation and taxes factored in, many dollar-denominated debt instruments, both public and private, now have a negative yield. Time to bail out! (2 hours 10 minutes)

• Both France and India now have commercially viable autos that run on compressed air. Why aren’t these cars available in the US? (2 hours 20 minutes)

• Has someone been whispering in Glenn Beck’s ear, suggesting a possible run for political office? (2 hours 37 minutes)

• Why do the mass media — including Murdoch’s Fox News — almost completely ignore the burgeoning Ron Paul movement, acting as if it doesn’t exist? (2 hours 40 minutes)

• Why, in the midst of the worst financial calamity since 1929 and the highest deficit in history, is no one questioning our hugely bloated military budget, which dwarfs that of most of the world combined? (2 hours 49 minutes)

• In Switzerland, where the people have retained the right to rule through referenda, it has been decided that individuals have the absolute right to keep automatic machine guns in their homes, and it is now unconstitutional to erect a minaret. (3 hours 39 minutes)

Remember that you can receive the Liberty Net in the area of 3950 kHz and above (usually above 3962 in recent weeks to escape DRM interference) every Saturday night at 10PM Eastern Time — or listen live on the Internet via N2SAG or N2IRJ. And you can listen at your leisure via the mp3 files posted here at https://3950.net every week. Each Saturday night’s mp3 file is usually posted on the next morning — Sunday  — and will be visible that day in the upper right column of this site.

Once again, thanks to W1WCR for running this important and historic discussion net, and thanks also to N2IRJ for making these recordings available.
