Liberty Net: June 19, 2010

PERHAPS THE LIBERTY Net could also be called the Philosophy Net, as there were many deep and reflective comments from participants this week.

The net — moderated by Vic, W1WCR and recorded by Marty, N2IRJ — proved itself once again as a bastion of free and unfettered speech.

There was some jamming of the net this week from one deranged individual who used gutter language and pretended to be a participant, but he didn’t fool anyone. Here’s proof in the form of an mp3 file that the jammer is the same (identified) individual who jammed the Marconi Net earlier the same evening:

Here is a tiny sampling of what you’ll hear on this week’s Liberty Net recording:

• If we gave the Chinese salvage rights for the spilled oil in the Gulf, how long would it take before it was all cleaned up? One month? (2 hours 52 minutes)

• Almost unmentioned by the controlled media, a huge American/Israeli war armada has passed through the Suez canal on the way to Iranian waters. Is another illegal Middle Eastern war about to begin? (2 hours 55 minutes)

Spy Numbers Station Mystery Solved

by Kevin Strom, WB4AIO

AN ELECTRONICS collector in Germany has created a series of videos showing us the actual hardware used in the at once ubiquitous and mysterious “spy numbers” stations emanating on shortwave from Cuba (even today) and from Eastern Bloc nations (during the Cold War).

Apparently the technology used by the ’80s consisted of digital voice samples on EEPROMs, and paper tape (of the same kind used in my high school computer lab circa 1972) for the actual encoded messages.

Back in 1989, some jokester put on a faux “spy numbers” station on 7425 kHz (and a few other frequencies) that sent messages read by an accented female announcer consisting of Mexican food items instead of Spanish numbers — “Attencion — taco… burrito… tamale… tamale… nacho… — final… final…” Hilarious.

Here are the six videos followed by the original author’s commentary:

Liberty Net: June 12, 2010

W1WCR’s new antenna — a 165-foot doublet held up by 100-foot pine trees — provided even more intense signals than usual for this week’s session of the Liberty Net.

Conversations on the historic current events discussion net ranged from the hidden aspects of politics to spy numbers stations to shortwave radio propagation and the mysteries of women.

Here is a small sampling of what you’ll hear on this week’s recording:

• New York City schools have come up with an innovative way to close the “racial achievement gap” — they simply give partial credit for wrong answers. (2 hours 44 minutes)

Liberty Net: June 5, 2010

THIS WEEK’S Liberty Net was 99 per cent. clear of intentional interference, as the jammers folded up their tents in the face of innovative techniques for getting Net communications through.

The Liberty Net, on the air since 1974 and led by Net Control Station W1WCR, is one of amateur radio’s most venerable and historic nets — and it is surely the most intellectual and exciting.

Here are just a few of the highlights of this week’s discussions:

• The Bilderberger group — an organization for the management class of the oligarchy — met from June 4th through 7th in Spain, with the main agenda being how the current economic crisis can be used to impose “true world economic governance.” (6 minutes)

Liberty Net: May 29, 2010

by Kevin Strom, WB4AIO

THIS WEEK the Liberty Net had some of the most heartfelt and engaging remarks — and some of the cruelest and crudest flagrant illegal interference — ever heard on amateur radio.

The Federal Communications Commission is supposed to protect us from intentional interference. The place to send your reports of jamming of the Liberty Net is fccham@fcc.gov — and their telephone number is 717-338-2577.

According to N8WGM, they also request that you send them recordings of the jamming to support your complaints. The address for recordings to be sent is FCC Enforcement Bureau, Amateur Radio Division, 1270 Fairfield Road, Gettysburg PA 17325. Especially interesting — to us at https://3950.net as well as to the FCC — would be reports from those getting a local ground wave signal from a jammer.

Here are just a few of the highlights of this week’s discussions:

• The amazing story of a recent Norwegian immigrant who came to America looking for liberty — and who was deeply saddened and disappointed by what he found here. (4 minutes)
