Liberty Net: December 11, 2010

by Kevin Strom, WB4AIO

THE LIBERTY NET must have hit a nerve where it really counts, because there were some attempts to jam it off the air this week. But those attempts were quite feeble, and even stations running 100 Watts to very modest antennas were able to communicate and add their comments to amateur radio’s longest-running discussion net.

Here are some of the topics touched on this time:

• We’ve all heard about the Wikileaks release of US diplomatic cables that show the criminality of the regime in Washington and the atrocities of its Middle Eastern wars. But, if you accept the “need for secrecy” argument, why was the regime so incompetent that its operatives failed to use the simple and inexpensive encryption programs that are widely available today? Liberty Net: November 27, 2010

THE CONTINUING ANNOYANCE of DRM transmissions from the BBC means that the weekly Saturday night Liberty Net is meeting a little higher up the band than usual, this week on 3969 kHz. But participants are getting used to the change, since check-ins were numerous despite ionospheric disturbances that made close-in stations fade at times.

Here’s an abbreviated list of the issues debated and discussed this time on amateur radio’s most venerable discussion net:

• A Spanish woman has now officially registered the Sun as her personal property. She claims that the international law which prohibits ownership of our home star by any government does not apply to individuals, and she will soon be charging all “Sun users” a fee, of which she will generously keep only 10 per cent. Liberty Net: September 11, 2010

THE ISLAMIFICATION of America and Europe was a major subject on the Liberty Net on the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. There was quite a bit of disagreement and debate on the subject, which made for very interesting listening.

SUNSPOT NUMBERS are inching up and so are radio conditions — and so is the number of check-ins to amateur radio’s Liberty Net. Net Control Station W1WCR presided over an excellent session this week, which included a lot of focus on personal liberty versus the growing police state here in the USSA.

Here’s a tiny sampling selected from the many items discussed this week on amateur radio’s best discussion net:

• Was the major bank failure in Afghanistan the result of that country being forced to adopt the most corrupt and criminal banking system in the world — that of the United States? (7 minutes)

Liberty Net: August 28, 2010

CONDITIONS were excellent and the longest-running discussion net on amateur radio, the Liberty Net, did itself proud once again with in-depth discussions and debate about the political, social, and economic issues that will determine the future of our civilization.

Here’s a small sample of the items discussed this week on amateur radio’s most exciting net:

• A four-year-old girl was running a lemonade stand in front of her house — until the “authorities” descended upon her, shutting her down for not having the required permits, paying taxes, and filling out the requisite forms. The “officers” who participated in this outrage would have refused to obey such orders — if they had had a single molecule of integrity. (9 minutes)

THERE WERE some propagation anomalies that affected the Liberty Net this week, but check-ins these days are from so many different areas that the conversation and debate is always vibrant — whether the skip is short or long.

Here are just a few of the topics discussed on the Liberty Net this week:

• A recent viral email presents the stark difference between thriving, civilized Detroit and A-bomb-devastated Hiroshima 65 years ago — and today’s thriving, beautiful Hiroshima and African-devastated Detroit. See http://tinyurl.com/23vz8fd and particularly http://tinyurl.com/2zj6f (38 minutes)

• In an under-reported environmental disaster, a bizarre extreme cold front has caused large numbers of wildlife deaths in Argentina and Bolivia. (1 hour 17 minutes)

WITH TOPICS ranging from the Kennedy assassination to our burgeoning police/”national security” state, the Liberty Net maintained its free speech traditions this week, and listening to the mp3 recording of the net will provide insights that you simply can’t get anywhere else.

Liberty Net: July 10, 2010

THE LIBERTY NET is the most exciting — and one of the most venerable — nets on the amateur radio bands today.

Emceed by published author Vic Misek, W1WCR, it’s on the air every Saturday night at 10PM Eastern Time on or around 3950 kHz SSB — usually within 10 kHz.

Propagation was generally good this week, and jamming was absent (though Summer static was a bit of a problem), making for excellent dialogue and information sharing.

Here are a few of the subjects discussed on this week’s net:

• What should the American attitude be to Muslims? Should we be friendly to those who mind their own business and stay in their home nations, while firmly resisting any Muslim migration to the US? Or should we do as we are now doing, and happily welcome Muslim invaders to our shores — while making unremitting war on the innocent Muslims who stay at home in their own countries? (18 minutes)

Liberty Net for Week of March 6-13

by Kevin Strom, WB4AIO

IONOSPHERIC propagation was much better for this week’s Liberty Net — the sunspot numbers are inching up into a more reasonable range — and the discussions were intense and the personal stories gripping.

Here are just a few examples of what was covered during the Net this week:

• An Oregon man who imports “Airsoft” plastic-BB toy guns found himself attacked — and his business ruined — by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF), which made the totally absurd claim that the toys “could be modified” into fully automatic machine guns and that they were “a terrorist threat” to “national security.” (22 minutes)
